Days 31&32
We woke up super early and hit the beach
Being super touristy, we walked around and collected shells and all that nonsense
We left for the venue around four and spent majority of the evening in the parking lot outside of the venue freestyling song lyrics about everyone that passed by and just generally being obnoxious
We have video, hopefully that will be posted soon
The people finallyyyyy showed to open the venue and we found out since it was 21+ no one would be allowed in the venue, including me since I couldn’t find my ID, except to play
This meant no merch but we thought no big deal cause the door split was 80/20 with the venue
We thought that as pretty generous so we decided not to bail
We grabbed some food at jack in the box and met up with tracy and her roomate amie who would be housing us that night
A car load of underage girls showed up to see us not knowing it was a 21+ show
We felt awful since they drove 45 minutes so we gave them all free CD’s and played acoustic in the lot for them
Until the venue told us to shut up or we’d get a ticket
How sweet
We thanked them all for coming and they left
I went to ask if we should start loading in since it was almost time to play and found out the first band hadn’t even started yet thanks to the lakers game so we were an hour behind schedule
After wasting more time in the parking lot tracy an i went inside midway into the first bands set to check attendance
As we did this the door man counted “one for here’s my chance”
That 80/20 door split was only the money for the people your band brings in
With their rotten attitude and this new information we all jumped in the van, flipped them the bird, and drove off
We weren’t getting paid that night so might as well go relax and take showers instead
After finding a parking spot we snuggled up in an apartment for a night of zach galifinakis live at the purple onion and pee-wee’s big adventure
We all slept soundly that night
Too soundly
We missed our alarm and went down to a 50 dollar parking ticket on the van
California has a vendetta against us
That’s all there is to it
We said goodbyes and drove to Hollywood blvd to have a bit of fun on the walk of fame
Check our pictures soon for some goodies
Fortunately this brightened our moods and we got to top it off over at st monica beach
Murph, Clayton, Brett, and I all braved the freezing water for a romping good time getting pummeled by waves
It was the best time we’d had here yet
The beach was clean, gorgeous, and unpopulated
Fantastic
Folks started showing up and lighting fires as the sun when down and Clayton, Murph, and I walked around chatting about the future
We finally had to leave and found a macy’s parking lot to sleep in
Murph and Clayton slept outside again
Until the sprinklers went off
Then a very wet and disgruntled Clayton joined us
Until the police showed up
Then murph joined us and we had to drive to another spot
Lucky we paid to park early on the boardwalk at Venice beach
California
It’s such a love/hate relationship
